When designing a landscaped garden from scratch, much thought is given to the planting, the patio and the fencing outlining the borders of a property. However, less thought is usually devoted to the aluminum gates or arch most suited to a garden’s needs.

Gates can say a lot about us, their designs can be grand, as the gates leading into stately homes, or they can be playful or bold. Whatever their design, their main function is to keep either in or out, depending on the beholder’s point of you.

If your property is large and your wrought-iron look aluminum fence proclaims your affluence and status in the neighborhood, you don’t want to spoil the effect by inserting a white plastic gate, no matter how safe it might keep the grandchildren or the dog from running out into the road beyond. Choosing the right gate for our entrance is important, both from an aesthetic and safety point of view.

If safety is your paramount requirement, your aluminum gates and fencing should be high enough to prevent people climbing over it and you should be able to bolt it or even lock it at night from the inside. This type of gate is best suited for entrances leading to the rear of a property. Front gardens usually have a much lower gate, but if your children are small or you have an adventurous or even assertive dog, your gate should be high enough for your loved ones to stay safely within the compound of your front garden.

Aluminum gates with their wrought iron look can look very imposing when used in combination with established hedges, particularly if the garden is flanked by topiary or if it contains an interesting design using parterres in swirling patterns or laid out as a maze with box hedges. Here the garden gate becomes a feature of the overall design rather than being merely a gateway into your property or a means to keep the dog inside.

Within a garden small parts fenced off to create areas with planting of different nature, perhaps a woodland area followed by a formal bedding arrangement, can be very effective and if the garden is long and narrow, a gardener can create an effect of different rooms within a design. These areas can either be fluid, where the visitor is led by a winding path from “room to room” or the design can be more formal, with clear demarcation boundaries. Here gates can become architectural features within the design.

A different planting area can be defined by the border around it as much as by the plants within it. There might be themes to the idea: a garden design inspired by Asian horticulture might use bamboo fencing and bamboo gates, while a Victorian garden might use metal fending, arches and gates together with metal seating like wrought iron chairs and tables.

Using a tall gate as a focal point is a way of recycling a gate that has outlived its usefulness as a protector of home and garden, but has still enough life in it to feature as a windbreak for or as a backdrop for an unusual specimen of plant. You might use an old gate to hide your compost heap or an unsightly part of your garden or simply to indicate that here is where the vegetable plot starts and the pleasure garden ends.

Old gates can still fulfill a variety of uses, not least as a guard laid across a small pond to keep children safe from falling in.

One of the busiest gates that leads into Jerusalem’s Old City is the Jaffa Gate. Jaffa Gate has two entrances: a large iron gate entrance for people and a larger passageway for vehicles to enter the city. The stones that surround this gate are pock holed from israeli bullets when the Israeli Defense Forces recaptured the city during the six day war in 1967. Jaffa Gate gives off an ancient feel as if it is a porthole to history itself – which it is for the people who pass through.

When you enter the gate the first sights you see are Arab cart merchants selling breads and beverages. Taxi’s and foot traffic squeeze through the gates and in this collage you feel you are entering the old middle east. Ottoman hotels mixed with swiss and christian hostels pass by you as you make your way through the congestion to a fork in the road. One way is to the Arab Shuk (marketplace) the other way is through the Armenian quarter that connects you to the Jewish Quarter. Taking the fork to the Jewish Quarter (the Arab Shuck is covered in our next day trip) you walk along a narrow road with vehicle traffic passing and honking just inches away. Walking for about a hundreds yards, you finally make a left on to St. James Road which leads into the Jewish Quarter. In the narrow passage ways of the Jewish quarter you pass mothers with many children, religious people with blue and strings flying from their shirts, Rabbis and tourists rushing here and there.

One of the first Jewish sites you pass along the main narrow artery into the Jewish Quarter is Birchat HaTorah – a seminary for newly religious Jewish men, followed by the Ohr haChaim synagogue dating back centuries. At the end of this narrow pathway road one comes to opening overlooking a line of 6th Century Roman – Byzantine cardo pillars. Young israeli children can often be seen playing soccer between the ancient pillars. To left is a large Chabad House and straight ahead you can see the newly rebuilt Hurvah Synagogue towering above. Beside the synagogue is a vacated minaret that was originally built by Moslems beside the rubble of the old Hurvah synagogue. As you make your way around the Hurvah, you find your self in a large courtyard where soldiers, children, tourists and students all blend together in a tapestry of living history. Taking Tiferet Yisrael road you make your way through a small commercial area which leads to steps that take you down to the holiest Jewish site: The Western Wall (a day trip unto itself). But for now you are resting on an ancient stone wheel in the middle of the Jewish Quarter, catching your breath before moving on in history.

What concerns you the most is the safety and security of your family. It is important that you install the gate at the entrance to avoid any kind of intrusion.

What are the facets of having an electric gate installed? How do they play a crucial role in protecting our residential property? Let’s find the answers through this article about the usefulness of metal and electric gates.

One would not want an intruder to trespass the premises of your property and getting an experience of what’s materializing in your house. It is must for you that you should install a gate opener at the entrance of your house so that the system becomes more expedient. Whoever wants to halt at the gate, can leave the car and manually open the gate. It is obvious that nobody would want to walk down to the gate and manually let someone inside the premises. It is not recommended that you walk down to the gate and manually open the gate as that would result in the security breach by an unknown individual and it would leave you uncovered to potential risks of danger. You can very well imagine how chaotic the situation would be if you don’t take precautionary measures because having a close encounter with such an unwanted situation would inflict diverse hazards on you. How about installing an electric gate that would prevent you from coming in contact with uninvited guests?

One of the benefits of electric gates is that they let you stay inside your house or car while the gates are opened. It is vital for you that you consider installing an intercom in your house so that you can talk to the person who wishes to enter. How about installing a video intercom? It gives you the benefit to see the person’s face while you are on a talk with him.

It is quite easy for you to find the cheapest electric gate but you should be aware of the place where you can get such gates. It is comprehended that you would certainly not want to compromise on the quality of the gate at a low price so; you might want to take into consideration all your options before you choose the right company for installing the electric gates.

You can find the low-priced gates but you need to get your hands on the extensive research so that you can find a reliable company to do the job. You can access diverse websites on the internet. You can conduct a list of such gates’ companies and then go for the research as much as you can.

The defense of farm animals and private property while living on a farmstead, and ranches is exactingly up to the possessor of the home. Police and sheriff’s departments are more often than not none nearby in these areas due to low tax funding by either the town itself or the county you preside currently. Selecting automatic gate openers for the double gates placed at the entrance of your driveway and ancillary entrances elsewhere on the property is dictated in completing the home security implementation that your acreage needs. People will often look for farm gate alarms, but what they are really searching for will be wireless driveway alarm systems.

Domestic animals such as longhorns, Brahmas, and sheep will take benefit of an unbolted gate, and will evacuate the ranch quickly. A wireless driveway alert system installed at each ranch or farming gate will prevent this scenario from happening often. Not only will you know when your prize heifer decides to go on her own power walk, but you will also be alerted when an intruder has entered your spread. Installing a digital video recorder with color security cameras that also feature microphones for recording sound will gather needed information to provide police for the capture of the thief who violated your land and home.

There are several automatic gate closers for heavy duty farming use, and you should have a professional come out to install each one to ensure proper operation. Be warned that you will need to run power from your breaker box out to the driveway entrance, and any other locations that you will want to have automatic gates placed. There are some products that offer solar operation, but on cloudy days, and rainy days it could be an issue that you will not want to deal with since you will be the one being rained on when opening and closing your double gates.

The security, safety, and privacy of your family is important to you, and you have installed a gate at the entrance of your property to limit ingress to your space, then you know that you must install gate opener at the entrance in order to also make the system more convenient. Who wants to stop at the gate, leave your car and manually open a gate each time they arrive home? Who wants to go down to the gate to manually let someone in? Stopping to manually open a gate defeats safety and security goals because you leave yourself exposed to the potential threat of strangers. Why not install automatic gates to save yourself a lot of hassle as well as potential danger.

Electric gates enable you to stay within the protection of your car or house while the gates are being opened. Of course, if you have an electric gate, you must also think about installing an intercom system in your house so that you can hear the person who wishes to enter. Ideally, a video intercom system not only allows you to talk to the person, but also to see the person before you open the gates. Having a video intercom system installed in conjunction with your automatic gates makes the system that much more convenient and safe. While it is possible to install electric gates yourself, it might be a better idea to leave it up to the professionals.

A professional gate installation technician can locate the best place to install the sensors and intercom components so that they work every time and are not likely to fall down or become damaged by the elements. The automatic gates will need to be installed on sturdy fencing in order to make the system work optimally. Obviously, if you install a high-tech gate system to an old rickety fence, you are defeating the whole purpose for having the fence at all. You want to create the best barrier system between you and the outside world. A professional can help you meet your goals.

If you decide that electric gates are for you, you should know that in addition to providing security, an electric gate system can also provide style and panache to your entryway. You can get automatic gates with patterns to match fencing and the design options are almost limitless. You can go for intricate or simple designs depending on your personal tastes.
